1. How can I save energy in my home?

In climates with a significant heating season, windows have represented a major source of unwanted heat loss, discomfort, and condensation problems. In recent de-cades, windows have undergone a technological revolution. It is now possible to have lower heat loss, less air leakage, and warmer window surfaces that improve com-fort and minimize condensation.

In climates that mainly require cooling, windows have rep-resented a major source of unwanted heat gain. In recent years, low-E coatings that reject solar heat without darkening the glass have undergone a technological revolution. It is now possible to significantly reduce solar heat gain and improve comfort while providing clear views and daylight.

Windows lose and gain heat by conduction, convection, radiation and air leakage. This heat transfer is expressed with U-values, or U-factors. U-values are the mathematical inverse of R-values. So an R-value of 2 equals a U-value of 1/2, or 0.5. Unlike R-values, lower U-value indicates higher insulating value.

Conduction is the movement of heat through a solid material. Touch a hot skillet, and you feel heat conducted from the stove through the pan. Heat flows through a window much the same way. With a less conductive material, you impede heat flow. Multiple-glazed windows trap low-conductance gas such as argon between panes of glass. Thermally resistant edge spacers and window frames reduce conduction, too.

4. How do I help maintain the quality and beauty of my new Advanced Window Corp. products?

Wash using mild detergent (if necessary) and a soft cloth or ordinary long-handled soft bristle brush. Do not wash the windows or doors with a high-pressure spray. The extreme pressure could crack or destroy the caulking around the window or door.

For difficult to remove dirt and stains, use the readily available household cleansers listed on the chart. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on use of the cleansers. In some cases you may wish to use a mildly abrasive cleanser such as Soft Scrub® but the use of any abrasive material could scratch the surface of the glass and window or door frame.

AAMA testing has ensured that PVC 100 is resistant to strong solvents. AquaSurTech has not found any window cleaners which has any negative effect on the integrity of the coating. A list of commercial window cleaners which will not effect coating look or performance are as follows: Ajax Window Cleaner, Windex, ZEP, Formula 409, Fantastik Window Cleaner.

Do not use liquid grease remover, strong soaps and deter-gents containing organic solvents, nail polish remover or furniture polish.

Troubleshooting - Re-Engaging the Operator

Blinds Between Glass raise and lower with the use of magnets inside the glass and on the external operator. Occasionally, the operator can come loose from the internal magnets, causing the blind to not operate properly. If your operator comes loose, the operator magnets have become disengaged. Re-engaging the magnets is easy, and this video shows you how to do it.

Troubleshooting - Exercising the Blinds

If your Blinds Between Glass have been in a raised position for a long time, the blinds might now lower properly when first lowered. "Exercising" the blinds will correct this issue. This video shows you how to exercise your Blinds Between Glass if needed.

Troubleshooting - Cleaning

Although Blinds Between Glass never require dusting, the glass itself must be kept clean to ensure easy operation. If operating your blind is taking more force than usual, you might need to clean the glass. This video explains how to clean the glass properly.

Troubleshooting - Blind Levelness

Occasionally when operating Blinds Between Glass, the blind might become out-of-level, with one side of the blind being higher than the other. Adjusting the blinds back to a level position is easy, and this video shows you how to do it.

Blinds Between Glass - Care and Use

Blinds Between Glass stay dust-free, are safe for children and pets, and are easy to care for and operate. This video shows you how to care for your Blinds Between Glass and how to use them for optimal convenience and enjoyment.
